Something for Nothing

A few days ago an internet company in Germany offered to buy my domain name. I told them it wasn't for sale. This morning they sweetened their deal to $350. It is still not for sale, but I can't help but think how odd it is that people will exchange real money over things that don't even exist.

Yeah, I've heard of people paying upwards of $600 for MMORPG characters (real money, not in-game), and there are people who make a living creating and selling virtual "stuff" in Second Life. Digital merchandise is a big, big thing these days. Whether or not digital things "exist" is a matter of some debate.
