Winds out of the South

Yesterday the temperature rose above freezing for the first time since I've been here. It was sunny and in the mid-low 40's. We celebrated by going for a bike ride. I got to try out all my new warm gear.

I took my Jamis, as it was wet and slushy and, as much as I adore my Titus, it's so light and touchy I didn't much feel like experiencing sketchy conditions only to fall over in them, or getting it dirty. This proved to be a good choice.

The ride was fun. For the most part, I wasn't too cold. Getting through town, we experienced streets running with snow-melt water. We went straight south on a road that goes out of town, through empty, snow blanketed corn fields. I only rode for about an hour, but it's a start.

Today it's in the 20's again.

Fortunately, I have plenty of website work to keep me occupied.

Some Things Never Change

For instance, Peanut will always be my depressed teddy-bear, no matter where we may wander.

And, I'll always compulsively re-design my website more frequently than it probably needs.

However, what has changed is where I live, and in my keen desire to please my readers, I have manufactured some images so you can get a better look at my house without coming all the the way to Iowa City. So, below we have a sampling of the interior rooms of our house.

When I started this project, I was feeling ambitious. Inspired by my brother's latest work, I decided it would be a piece of cake to take a few photos of each room and splice them together.

I was wrong.

After doing this splicing with one, I was over it. So, below we have a panoramic view of the dining room.

After that, we just have rows of compiled images that more or less go next to each other. I do apologize for my laziness.

Right of the dining room is the kitchen.

Before the dining room is the living room.

Up the stairs is the bedroom.

The office and basement are not yet quite fit to be seen.

-2 °F

That is the current actual temperature outside the house. This is how the window looked when we got up this morning.

Below is a view of the garage through the frosty window of our "office."

With windchill, it's -14 out there. Today's projected high... 12.

Fortunately, it's easy to keep it warm inside. =)

Iowa, with Snow

It's been snowing here. Although it kept up all night and until a little after noon this morning, it did so lightly. Now we have a carpet of white over everything. It looks nice.

Brian seized the opportunity to go cross country skiing. I was not feeling so ambitious. I put on some boots and walked around in the back yard.

The front of the house, with snow.

The side of the house and gate to the back yard, with snow.

The really, really big tree in the back yard and garage, with snow.

A dead leaf, with snow.

An empty plant hanger, with snow.
